Baby walkers are dangerous! Children have the potential to fall
down stairs, fall out of the walker, or get at and into things
they couldn’t reach before. Children have suffered head
injuries, fractures, poisonings and drowning because of the
increased mobility that walkers with wheels provide. A baby
will not learn to walk sooner by using a baby walker.
Canada has banned the sale of baby walkers. It is a criminal
offence to sell, advertise or import new or used baby walkers.
This includes selling these walkers at garage sales and passing
them down as a “hand me down” product. |
If you have a baby walker with wheels, discard it. Remove
the wheels from the walker first to ensure that no one will
be tempted to reuse it.
An alternative to using a baby walker with wheels is a stationary
activity centre. Keep your child safe by supervising them
at all times and keep them away from potentially dangerous
objects that they can reach.

centers, please visit Consumer
