During
one of your first appointments at the cancer centre, you will
have a brief interview with a Supportive Care counselor, such
as a social worker or chaplain, to assess your needs.
The Supportive Care team is committed to providing quality
care to cancer patients and their families, including helping
people manage the emotional, social and spiritual challenges
of cancer. The counselors have backgrounds in psychology,
social work or pastoral care, and are skilled in individual,
family and group counseling. They also help patients deal
with practical concerns - making travel arrangements, finding
drug coverage, or accessing other community services.

Arranging to speak with a counselor is easy. Ask any member
of your treatment team to make a referral, or call (807)
684-7310 or toll free at (877) 696-7223
to book an appointment.
