Emotional Support

If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with cancer and would like to talk to someone who has had a similar experience, support is only a phone call away. We can help you find the support that best suits you. One example is CancerConnection, an Ontario-wide support program that matches you over the phone with a trained volunteer. You can reach this free, confidential service directly at 1-800-263-6750. Additionally, Living with Cancer is a self-help group led by trained volunteers who offer emotional and social support, as well as practical help and guidance.

Cancer Information

cc_11

A diagnosis of cancer brings with it many questions. The Canadian Cancer Society can help. We offer up-to-date information about all cancers and treatments. Information is available over the phone, in print and at our website. We offer comprehensive and credible information on all cancers. While our publication and website offer general information on many forms of cancer, our Cancer Information Specialists can provide you with information specific to your needs. We can answer your questions about symptoms, specific cancers and treatment; however, only your doctor can make a diagnosis and advise you on your treatment.

The Ontario Cancer Information Service operates in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario.

Smoker’s Helpline

The Smoker's Help Line can be reached toll-free at 1-877-513-5333. It is for smokers who want to quit or may be thinking of kicking the habit. It is also for individuals who have stopped smoking and need support, or smokers who enjoy smoking and do not want to quit. The Help Line does not use guilt trips. They provide solid information, advice and support. When it's right for you, they are ready to help. The office of the Canadian Cancer Society also has information about tobacco use and cessation.

Transportation Assistance

The Canadian Cancer Society will provide financial assistance towards the cost of transportation to and from treatment for patients in financial need, and when it is medically required, for an escort to accompany the patient. We provide supplemental travel assistance for patients eligible for the Northern Health Travel Grant.

Wigs and Turbans

The Canadian Cancer Society has wigs and turbans in a variety of styles and colours for loan.
