Regional Cancer Care
We are pleased to invite applications for a Clinician Scientist
in Radiation Oncology at Regional Cancer Care, the integrated
cancer program of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences
Centre. Located at the tip of Lake Superior in Northwestern
Ontario, we are responsible for the delivery of cancer services
to approximately 300,000 people from the Manitoba border to
Hearst. Interested candidates will work in a multidisciplinary
setting with a team that has established a reputation for
excellence in patient care, clinical research, and education.
We are the comprehensive cancer program within the recently
constructed Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with
both outpatient and inpatient focuses. In addition to a newly
introduced PET/CT-Simulator, our Radiation Oncology program
offers CT Simulation, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy, and external
beam therapy, including IMRT, using two ONCOR™ Linear
Accelerators. Focal™ is used to provide virtual simulation
capabilities and treatment planning is performed using XiO™.
We have multidisciplinary clinics for Urology, Head and Neck,
Breast, Skin, and Thoracic rounds for Radiation Oncologists
and a tradition in participation in Clinical Trials. Additionally,
we actively interact with our thirteen regional sites across
Northwestern Ontario either in person or through Telehealth.
Affiliation with Lakehead University and the Northern Ontario
School of Medicine provides superb opportunity for clinical
and applied research, which has been significantly enhanced
with the recent creation of the Thunder Bay Regional Research
Institute (TBRRI). There are three core research themes being
pursued by the TBRRI: Image guided interventions, advanced
detection devices, and biomarker exploration. Bench-top research
will predominantly be performed on a second campus, but an
emphasis on translating that research to the clinical environment
means that there is also dedicated space at the TBRHSC. The
relationship with the TBRRI is ideal for supporting the research
interests of a clinician scientist.
Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Ontario, and
must have a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the Royal
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or equivalent.
While Canadian immigration regulations accord preference to
Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada, all qualified
applicants are encouraged to apply by sending a copy of their
curriculum vitae and three references in confidence.
