Reporting to the Manager - Medical Cardiology Services, you
will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to
patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes
are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health
care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College
of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy and Values of Nursing
Services and the policies of the Health Sciences Centre.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College
of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Two years experience in Medical Cardiology Nursing
- Certification, or recent continuing education in Cardiovascular
Nursing is preferred
In addition, applicants must have skill and experience
in the following elements of nursing practice:
- Physical Assessment
- Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation
- Central Venous Line Management
- Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions
- Practicing as a partner on multidisciplinary teams
- Patient and family teaching
- Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution
- Meditech documentation including EMR and OE
In addition to the above qualifications, preference
will be given to applicants who have completed Lead II Arrhythmia
Interpretation program and experience in Care of Patients
with:
- Cardiac Disease
- Cardiac Catheterization
- Cardioversion
- Permanent Pacemaker
- Palliative Inotropes
- Pre and post angioplasty
- Telemetry Monitoring
- Experience with arranging Air Transfers<
