TBRHSC Strategic Planning Update - March 2006

March 6, 2006

Click to listen to this page using ReadPlease We are now two months in to our strategic planning process, and have, very successfully, completed our first series of planning initiatives. We have undertaken a significant stakeholder consultation process that used interviews, surveys and focus groups to gather feedback from over 150 patients, customers, partners, staff and other groups. Through this process we learned that our stakeholders are generally very supportive of our institution and are willing to help us achieve our vision.

The weekend of February 25th and 26th we held our first strategy workshop with the Strategic Planning Steering Committee to evaluate our:

- Five year performance
- Current and future environment (social, political, technological and competitive)
- Organizational strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats
- Critical challenges for the future

The linked Strategic Planning Update PowerPoint Presentation summarizes the proceedings from the initial workshop, and describes what our focus will be over the next four weeks until our next strategy-setting workshop March 31st - April 1st. Using the linked follow-up survey, we would very much appreciate if you would review the above presentation and let us know whether you agree with our conclusions, where you disagree, and anything of major significance that you feel we have missed. When you have completed the survey, please email it to Erik Lockhart at the Queen’s School of Business: elockhart@business.queensu.ca.

We also encourage you to post any suggestions or comments on the new Strategic Planning Feedback Forum. Your views are very important in the ongoing development and implementation process. Please note that we will be posting continuing updates on our strategic planning activity and we hope you will continue to visit the site over the next months as we finalize the strategy and commence implementation.

Thank you again for your continued interest in our shared future.

Sincerely,

Ron Saddington
President & CEO
